Gender biased statements expressed by the actors of Miss Congeniality 2 Film

ABSTRACT

As the main instrument of communications, language is unseparatable from the human existence. Language is, therefore, the mirror of human reality, when the reality shows discriminations to the certain groups; the language will represent the discrimination. Human being uses language to express feelings, responded phenomena, and share an idea. Due to this fact, we realize that language has a big deal with human daily life; it conduct US to understand the message of communication through the gender biased that expressed by the human being in our society, because there are many inequalities between women and men in many social constructions. That also happens in the language practice that we find in every conditions.

This study aims at analyzing the sociolinguistics analysis on the units of language that are expressed by the players of Miss Congeniality 2 movie. According to the background, this research is conducted to answer the following research problem How do the proverbs, idiomatic expressions and swear words found in Miss Congeniality 2 Film movie expressed gender biased judgment.

The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research. The data are in the form of units of language from the dialogue of the movie. The reading process of this study are by counting the unit of language from the conversations of the players, and then cutting the data into the specific unit of language which consist of gender biased.

In the data analysis the writer use some process of analysis: categorizing the data which is gender biased, analyzing the data than interpreting the data and the last process is making conclusion from analyzing, interpreting and discussing process.

Based on those finding, the researcher suggests the next researcher to make more wonderful and more complete analysis on the same field, because every literary work especially movie has its own uniqueness in the side of gender biased statements.
