The differences of Madurese vocabularies used by Bangkalan and Sumenep people

ABSTRACT

Madurese is a small Island wich of four regencies.Those are; Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and the last is Sumenep regency. Each regency has different custom, language, dialect, and different in vocabulary in spite its clan. But here, the writer only analyzes on differences of vocabulary is used by Bangkalan and by Sumenep people.There are some differences of vocabulary its by Bangkalan and by Sumenep people. It happen because of some factors. The first factor is geography ,the second factors are culture, the third are economic and the last is education.

The first factor is geography. Madurese Island is near with the Surabaya harbor. These have influence to their character, Especially to Bangkalan people, t of Their character is influence by Surabaya’s people, besides it is influenced by the geography.

The second factors is culture. Bangkalan regency is near with the sea and Surabaya harbor. ,They are influenced by the Surabaya’s people. These influence to their character, and to their language, especially to their vocabulary.Therefore why Bangkalan to be more rude than Sumenep people when they make communication with other people. While Sumenep far from the Surabaya harbor and near with the Sumenep keraton, they were inlfuenced by Sumenep keraton bevavior. Therefore, they to be more polite than Bangkalan people when tey make communication with other people.

The third are economic. Most of Bangkalan people are the fisherman and sailor. They economic more poor than Sumenep people. While, Sumenep people as the farmer. They economic more prosperous than Bangkalan people.

The last is the education. Because of the economic these influence to their education. Most of Bangkalan people cannot continue their education till in University is like to Sumenep people.These factors that make influence to the vocabulary that used by Bangkalan and by Sumenep people.

Here, the writer using the observation to the field and asking some question to the some informants to get the data. Then, using explanatory and analyse design, which belongs to descriptive qualitative. The goals of this study are to find out the differences of vocabulary that used by Bangkalan and by Sumenep people. And to find out the each function of each vocabulary that they used. And give information to all people, especially who want to know about the differences of vocabulary that they used. The writer will great expected by this study will give more information about the vocabulary that used by Bangkalan and by Sumenep people to all reader, especially to the writer itself.
