Abstract
ABSTRACT
hl speaking a foreign language, we will obviously meet various kinds of learning problems. Those problems deal with the learning of new sound system, new vocabulary items, and unfamiliar ways of arranging the foreign words into sentence.
Phonological aspect is one important thing in learning a foreign language. Speaking a foreign language is the most difficult part in language learning because students need ample practice in speaking to be able to express their own thoughts in coimection with a situation. Students learning a language need activities that coincide with their interests, their life experience and individual peculiarities. Those will stimulate their mental activity to use the language as a means of communication.
Tlie WI iter is interested in those phenomena when he sees the condition of students English Course language in phonological error. Why should you study Englisli prommciation? Because pronunciation is the biggest thing that people notice about your English. You should study it even if you think you can already communicate in English. It is very important to conduct research because it relates to understanding in coimnunication. for example when some one says ,1She sees sells shells OH the shore. / Ji sies seis Jels on 9دل ة : /" it can be understood by the listener. Ajtd it is very different when the speaker says /si sis seis seis on te 5د : /.
Mispronunciation could make the listener have difficulties in understanding the massage of die speaker. As like explanation above that word Shell /إحر / has no different sound with word sell /sel/ if the Consonant Sh /ل/ pronounces as the Siimc sound witli Consonant s /s/. Based on tlie manner of articulation is also different though Consonant /ل/ has die same voice ١vith /s/ tliat both are voiceless but with different articulation. Consonant ،S' /٨is Voiceless Alveolar and Consonant Sh ال is Voiceless Palato Alveolar,
This research is aimed to find out how is the common mispronunciation mode on the students of Basic English Course. And the result of this research based on the data show that the English Language of students of Basic English Course is phonological error.
The influence of spelling on -pronunciation learners of Basic. English Course may have difficulty in correctly pronouncing words from a written text. Tnis is because, in Indonesia, it is relatively easy to know how to pronounce ت word by looking at it, being phonological and also having a number of diacritical marks. English pronunciation and spelling, however, ٠haveevplved at differing rates over the centuries. All ten students seem to have been influenced by spelling. For example, they all pronounce the ٦vo٢d found it difficult to pronounce the word w//,، saying Avalt/instead ofAvelt/,
From this research, the researcher hopes tliis thesis could give contribution to the researcher himself especially and to the reader or to the further researcher who conduct the same research. Hopeftilly for tlie next researcher who conducts tire same research could complete this research not only in mispronunciation but also intonation as well.
