A comparative analysis between English and Sasakese adjective Clauses

ABSTRACT

The writer was encouraged to choose the title "A Contrastive Analysis Between English and Sasakese Adjective Clause”, as he wanted to know about region language because of as a student the State Islamic University of Malang. It is important to know much about other languages.

The writer curious to know the forms of complex sentence especially in English and Sasakese Adjective Clause. He was also eager to know how the syntactical rules influenced the construction.

The problem discussion are: how do English and Sasakese express adjective clause? How are the syntactical description of English and Saskese adjective clause as express in tree diagram? The writer is endeavor to answer the problem of the study by making the construction of the adjective clause in both languages that showed the characteristics in terms of variety of ways according to the function.

In composing this thesis the writer used some related referenced to analyze the English clause and obtaining the data from Sasakese the writer interviews with seven Imformanthat had been selected.

After obtaining the data, the writer analyzed them based on their function, position, rule, and usage.

In discussing the data the writer introduced “how to from English and Sasakese adjective clause” secondly the writer analyzed sentence using a tree diagram in both language.

After analyzing the data the writer could draw conclusion that in general, English and Sasakese have some similarities and differences.

Similarities both languages are English clause and Sasakese clause that:
٠ Both languages have objective clause that can modifier the subject, the object, the subject complement, the object complement, direct and indirect object.

٠ Both languages have NP, VP, Pron, Noun, Adj, Adv, Vi, Prop, and Vt.
And different both languages are English clause and Sasakese clause That:

٠ English have tenses, model, adjective, pronoun, and possessive adjective.
Whereas Sasakese doesn’t have tenses, modal, objective, pronoun, and possessive adjective.

٠ English, we can defferenciate between restrictive, non restrictive and person and non person. Whereas Sasakese, we can not differenciate between restrictive, non restrictive, person and non person. Sasakese uses one word only to substitute person and non person that is ،*Sak”.

٠ English is ND (Noun Determiner) is put before the noun (for person, non person, and profession). Whereas Sasakese, ND (Noun Determiner) is put after the noun (for person, non person, and profession).
