Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Bitter melon (Momordica charantia L) is one of plants that are easy to find in Indonesia. All parts of the plant can be used as an alternative medicine of various diseases, one of them is as antidiabetic. This plant contains many active compounds that have ability to lower blood glucose levels. Aim of this study is to know dose variations effect of bitter melon (Momordica charantia) fruit concentrated infusion therapy on blood glucose level and liver histological picture of diabetic rat (Rattus novergicus) induced by alloxan. This research was an experimental study designed with eight factors and three replications. The factors were normal control rats (without treatment), diabetic control rats (induced with alloxan 32 mg / 200 g BW), and dose controls of 0.15; 0.3; 0.45; 0.6; 0.8 and 1 mL / 200 g BW. The experimental animals used were two month old white strain male wistar rat with a weight of 200 g. Measuring of blood glucose level by using Glucometer DR. The results showed that the extract of bitter melon fruit concentrated infusion (Momordica charantia) has a significant effect on decrease in blood glucose levels with dose 0,3 ml/200 g WB at blood glucose level range 600 ml/dL, 300 ml/dL dan 200 ml/dL each 40.56%, 83.6% dan 84.91%. And has significant on repair the average diameter of the central vein is 92,68% and increase amount rat liver hepatocytes cell is 40% with optimum dose 0,3 ml/200 g WB.
