Penalaran kombinatorial siswa Kelas VIII dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika materi peluang ditinjau dari gaya kognitif Field Independent-Dependent

Penalaran kombinatorial adalah suatu aktivitas berpikir analitis dalam menyelesaikan masalah dengan mengonstruksi beberapa proposisi yang terkait sesuai dengan masalah yang disajikan, kemudian digunakan untuk mempertimbangkan seluruh alternatif penyelesaian yang mungkin. Adapun tahapan penalaran kombinatorial menurut antara lain: (1) investigasi beberapa kasus, (2) memastikan kebenaran solusi yang ditemukan, (3) menggeneralisasi seluruh solusi yang ditemukan, dan (4) mengubah masalah yang telah diberikan menjadi masalah lain.

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di MTsN Batu pada siswa kelas VIII. Peneliti memberikan tes penentuan subjek dengan GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) dan tes tulis penalaran kombinatorial. Setelah mendapatkan subjek penelitian dipilih empat subjek sesuai dengan gaya kognitif Field Dependent dan Field Independent, peneliti memberikan soal tes penalaran kombinatorial kepada empat subjek tersebut. Kemudian setelah mendapatkan hasil tes dianalisis tahapan penalaran kombinatorial. Sebagai pendukung hasil tes tulis, peneliti melakukan wawancara. Selanjutnya, hasil wawancara dan hasil tes tulis digabungkan dan dibandingkan untuk ditarik kesimpulan proses penalaran kombinatorial dari masing-masing kategori subjek gaya kognitif.

Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa dengan gaya kognitif Field Dependent (FD) tidak memenuhi empat indikator penalaran kombinatorial yaitu investigasi beberapa kasus, memastikan kebenaran solusi yang ditemukan, menggeneralisasi semua solusi yang ditemukan, dan mengubah masalah yang disajikan menjadi masalah yang lain, (2) siswa dengan gaya kognitif Field Independent (FI) memenuhi keempat indikator penalaran kombinatorial yaitu investigasi beberapa kasus, memastikan kebenaran solusi yang ditemukan, menggeneralisasi semua solusi yang ditemukan, dan mengubah masalah yang disajikan menjadi masalah yang lain.

Combinatorial reasoning is an activity of analytical thinking in solving problems by constructing several related propositions according to the problem presented, then used to consider all possible alternative solutions. The stages of combinatorial reasoning include: (1) investigating several cases, (2) ensuring the correctness of the solutions found, (3) generalizing all the solutions found, and (4) changing the problem that has been given to another problem.

This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research was carried out at MTsN Batu in class VIII students. The researcher gave a subject determination test with the GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) and a written combinatorial reasoning test. After obtaining the research subjects, four subjects were selected according to the Field Dependent and Field Independent cognitive styles, the researcher gave the four subjects a combinatorial reasoning test. Then after getting the test results the stages of combinatorial reasoning were analyzed. As a support for the results of the written test, the researcher conducted interviews. Furthermore, the results of the interviews and the results of the written test were combined and compared to draw conclusions about the combinatorial reasoning process of each cognitive style subject category.

The results in this study indicate that: (1) students with the Field Dependent (FD) cognitive style do not fulfill the four indicators of combinatorial reasoning, namely investigating several cases, ensuring the correctness of the solutions found, generalizing all the solutions found, and changing the problems presented into problems that are presented. another, (2) students with the Field Independent (FI) cognitive style fulfill the four indicators of combinatorial reasoning, namely investigating several cases, ensuring the correctness of the solutions found, generalizing all the solutions found, and changing the problems presented into other problems.
