Abstract
ABSTRAK
Positioning merupakan inti dari strategi pemasaran, penerapan strategi positioning di perguruan tinggi tidak terlepas dari perkembangan globalisasi yang sudah membuat perubahan di dalam perguruan tinggi, di mana perkembangan globalisasi pada saat ini tidak mengenal batasan wilayah, semua perguruan tinggi berlomba-lomba untuk menjadi pemenang baik di tingkat nasional maupun internasional dalam memberikan pelayanan pendidikan.Dari perkembangan itu maka tidak heran apabila penerapan strategi pemasaran yang biasa digunakan dalam dunia bisnis saat ini mulai banyak digunakan pada jasa perguruan tinggi (PT). Salah satu penerapan teori dan konsep strategi pemasaran di beberapa universitas digunakan untuk menciptakan keunggulan bersaing.Salah satunya adalah strategi positioning yang digunakan untuk membangun strategi keunggulan bersaing di PT, setiap program dan pelayanandiberikan bertujuan untuk menguatkan positioning PT.
Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk: (1) mendiskripsikan, memetakan dan menganalisis strategi keunggulan bersaing dalam membangun positioning STAIN Jember, (2) mendiskripsikan, memetakan dan menganalisis model kepemimpinan Ketua STAIN dalam membangun positioning STAIN Jember.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif fenomologik naturalistik. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi dengan pengecekan keabsahan data menggunakan dependabilitas dan konfirmabilitas. Sedangkan teknik analisis data, peneliti menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa: 1) strategi keunggulan bersaing dalam membangun positioning STAIN Jember sebagai PTAIN berbasis pondok pesantren dan pusat kajian Islam nusantara melalui: (a) bidang kurikulum, (b) bidang penelitian, (c) bidang pengabdian masyarakat, (d) bidang pendidikan dan pembelajaran, (e) bidang sarjana/lulusan, (f) bidang sarana dan prasarana, (g) bidang kerjasama, (h) bidang tenaga pendidik, (i) publikasi positioning; dan 2)model kepemimpinan Ketua STAIN Jember dalam membangun positioning STAIN Jember sebagai PTAIN berbasis pondok pesantren dan pusat kajian Islam nusantara ialah model kepemimpinan transformasional dan model kepemimpinan enterpreneur. Berdasarkan pengamatan peneliti, penerapan kedua model kepemimpinan tersebut oleh Ketua STAIN Jember disebabkan beberapa faktor, yaitu: sifat dan kepribadian pemimpin dan bawahan, tantangan yang dihadapi, dan kondisi lingkungan kerja.
ABSTRACT
Positioning is the core of marketing strategy. The implementation of positioning strategies in college is inseparable from the development of globalization that has made a change in the college, in which the globalization now a days are not familiar with the area limitation, all universities are competing to be the winner in both the national or international level in providing development educational services. That, it does not be surprised if the implementation of marketing strategies that are commonly used in today’s business world is more often used on college services (PT). One application of the theories and concepts of marketing strategy several universities used to create them as competition. One of excellence positioning strategy that is used to build competitive advantage strategy in PT, each program and aims to streng then the positioning to service in PT.
The purpose of this study was to: (1) describe, map, and analyze the strategy of building a competitive advantage in positioning STAIN Jember, (2) describe, map and analyze models of leadership in building the chairman STAIN STAIN Jember. Study positioning using a qualitative research approach fenomological naturalistic. Data was collected by interview, observation, and documentation to check the validity of the data using the dependability, and confirmability. While the techniques of data analysis, researchers used data reduction, data display, and conclusion.
Based on the results of the study showed that: (1) strategies to build competitive advantage in positioning STAIN Jember as PTAIN based boarding school and Islamic study centers nation wide through: (a) curriculum, (b), research, (c) the field of community service, (d) education and learning, (e) the field of undergraduate/graduate, (f) the development of infrastructure, (g) cooperation, (h) field educators, (i) the publication of positioning; and (2) while the chairman of the leadership models in building positioning STAIN STAIN Jember as PTAIN based boarding school Islamic study centers nationwide and is a model of transformational leadership and enterpreneurial leadership model. Based on the observations of the researcher, the aplication of the two models of leadership by chairman STAIN jember due to serveral factors: the nature and personality of the leader and subordinates, challenges faced, and working conditions.
