Abstract
ABSTRAK
Model kepemimpinan seorang pemimpin sangat mempengaruhi perkembangan sebuah lembaga, karena pada dasarnya, model kepemimpinan yang tepat dengan situasi dan kondisi lembaganya, akan berdampak pada terlaksananya program dan tercapainya tujuan. Kepemimpinan merupakan faktor penentu bagi efektif dan efisiennya suatu organisasi atau instansi tertentu. Sebagaimana yayasan sebagai organisasi swasta yang bergerak di bidang pendidikan Islam dan menangani beberapa lembaga pendidikan serta berada di sekitar lembaga pendidikan negeri dan swasta yang lain, menghadapi tantangan yang sangat berat baik dalam pengelolaan dan pengembangan, maupun adanya stigma negatif dari masyarakat terkait pendidikan Islam, sehingga hal tersebut membutuhkan peran seorang pemimpin dalam mengembangkan pendidikan yang mengejawantahkan nilai-nilai Islam dan mewujudkan pendidikan yang berdaya saing dan berdaya mutu. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini berfokus untuk: (1) mendiskripsikan pengembangan pendidikan Islam yang dilakukan oleh ketua Yayasan Raden Fatah dan Sunan Ampel Kabupaten Probolinggo, dan (2) mengungkap dan menganalisis model kepemimpinan ketua Yayasan Raden Fatah dan Sunan Ampel dalam mengembangkan pendidikan Islam.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis penelitian studi kasus dengan mengambil fokus di 2 situs atau multi situs. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi dengan pengecekan keabsahan data melalui triangulasi sumber dan metode.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa: 1) pengembangan pendidikan Islam yang dilakukan oleh ketua YPI Raden Fatah dan Sunan Ampel Kabupaten Probolinggo terklasifikasi menjadi pengembangan secara fisik dan non fisik, secara fisik meliputi hal-hal berikut: (a). pengembangan lembaga Pendidikan Islam (b). pengembangan sarana dan prasarana (SP), (c). pengembangan perpustakaan. Adapun secara non fisik meliputi: (a). peningkatan kualitas guru, (b). pengembangan bahasa asing, (c). pengembangan kreativitas. Adapun pengembangan tersebut dilakukan dengan berlandaskan nilai-nilai Islam, kepribadian ketua, adanya kerjasama dengan beberapa pihak, dukungan bawahan dan masyarakat. Namun yang membedakan, YPI Raden Fatah memiliki lembaga pendidikan islam lebih banyak dan sarana-prasarana yang lebih memadai daripada YPI Sunan Ampel. 2) model kepemimpinan yang diterapkan oleh ketua YPI Raden Fatah adalah kepemimpinan transformasional dan kepemimpinan kharismatik. Sedangkan ketua YPI Sunan Ampel menerapkan model kepemimpinan kultural dan pseudo demokratis. Berdasarkan pengamatan peneliti, perbedaan model kepemimpinan yang diterapkan disebabkan beberapa faktor yaitu: perbedaan kecil dan besarnya kekuasaan, sifat dan kepribadian pemimpin dan bawahan, kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana, penghargaan dan sangsi, dan tantangan yang dihadapi.
ABSTRACT
The leadership model of chairman plays a significant role in the institution development. It also gives an impact towards the success of the program. Moreover, leadership is the considered factor in the effectiveness and efficiency of certain organizations or institutions. It is the fact that the foundation is as the private institutions concerning in the Islamic education and addressing several educational institutions either the public and or the private institutions. In addition, it faces a very tough challenge in the management and development as well as the negative stigma from the public related to Islamic education. Therefore, it it takes the role of a leader in developing educational embody Islamic values and education to realize a competitive and quality power.The purpose of this study focuses on : (1) to describe the development of Islamic education is conducted by Foundation chairman Raden Fatah and SunanAmpelProbolinggo, and (2) to reveal and analyze the model Foundation chairman Raden Fatah leadership and Sunan Ampel in developing Islamic education.
This research employs a qualitative approach which is specified in a case study with focusing on taking 2 site or multi sites. Moreover, the data collection techniques in this study are included in-depth interviews, observation and documentation which are done for checking the validity of the data through triangulation of sources and methods.
The results of the study show that: 1) Islamic education developed by the chairman of YPI Raden Fatah and SunanAmpelProbolinggo is classified into two kinds of elaboration: physical and non-physical. The physical elaboration includes the following points: (a). The development of Islamic education institutions (b). The development of infrastructure (SP), and (c). The development of library. Further, the non-physical elaboration includes: (a). Improving the quality of teachers, (b). Developing foreign language, and (c). Developing creativity. The elaboration of those both aspects above is done based on the values of Islam, the personality of the chairman, the cooperation with several parties, and the support from subordinates and community. However, beside those similarities, there are differences YPI Raden Fatah has more adequate Islamic educational institutions and infrastructures than the YPI Sunan Ampel has. 2) The leadership model adopted by YPI chairman Raden Fatah is transformational and charismatic leadership. In contrast, the chairman of SunanAmpel YPI applies cultural models and pseudo democratic leadership. Further, this research also yields that there are differences between those leadership models applied. Those differences are assumed due to several factors: the power, the characteristics and personality of the leader and the subordinates, the completeness of the facilities and the infrastructures, the rewards and sanctions, and the challenges faced.
