Abstract
ABSTRAK
Bahan bakar alternatif diperlukan untuk pengganti sumber daya alam yang tidak dapat diperbarui. Salah satu bahan bakar alternatif tersebut yang dikembangkan adalah briket arang dengan memanfaatkan limbah biomassa. Pada penelitian ini dibuat briket arang dengan mengkaji pengaruh variasi tekanan pengepresan dan komposisi bahan terhadap sifat fisis briket arang. Proses karbonisasi pada tempurung kelapa 450ºC selama 15 menit. Serbuk kayu dikarbonisasi menggunakan klin drum selama 4-5 jam. Perbandingan komposisi bahan tempurung kelapa dengan serbuk kayu adalah sebagai berikut 75%:25%, 25%:75%, 50%:50%, 100%:0%, 0%:100% dengan tekanan pengepresan 50 N/cm2, 100N/cm2, 150N/cm2. Pengeringan briket dilakukan di dalam oven dengan suhu 60°C selama 24 jam. Briket berbentuk silinder dengan diameter 5 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan briket paling optimum dengan perbandingan komposisi bahan 100% tempurung kelapa menggunakan tekanan antara 100-150N/cm2 dengan nilai parameter uji sebagai berikut densitas 0.634 gr/cm3, kekuatan mekanik 43.167 N/cm2 dan lama pembakaran 64,39 menit
ABSTRACT
The alternative fuel was needed to substitute the natural resource that can not be renewed. One of alternative fuels developed was charcoal briquette by examining the influence of pressing pressure variation and material composition to the physical features of charcoal briquette. The study was conducted in a laboratory scale using carbonization process in the coconut shell at 450 º C for 15 minutes. Wood powder was carbonized by using a drum kiln for 4-5 hours. The Comparison of the composition of coconut shell with wood powder is as follows 75%:25%, 25%:75%, 50%:50%, 100%:0%, 0%:100% with pressing pressure f 50kg/cm2, 100 kg/cm2, 150 kg/cm2. This research remains variable with adhesive tapioca starch and 30% of cow dung. Briquette drying was in an oven with a temperature of 60°C for 24 hours. Briquette shaped cylinder with a diameter of 5 cm.The best results were obtained briquettes are briquettes with a composition ratio of 100% coconut shell using a pressure of 100-150kg/cm2 with the following test parameter values 0634 gr/cm3 density, mechanical strength of 43.167 N/cm2 and the duration of combustion of 64,39 minutes.
