Abstract
ABSTRAK
Biomassa merupakan salah satu sumber energi alternatif yang sangat melimpah, namun belum termanfaatkan secara maksimal. Ranting pohon api-api (Avicennian marina) dan limbah tongkol jagung memiliki potensi untuk dijadikan biopelet. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji laju pembakaran dan nilai kalor biopelet, dengan perbandingan komposisi bahan ranting pohon api-api (Avicennian marina) dan tongkol jagung 100%:0%, 50%:50%, 0%:100% serta variasi tekanan 500 N/cm2, 100 N/cm2, dan 1500 N/cm2. Serbuk dibuat ukuran 40 mesh. Bahan perekat yang digunakan adalah tepung tapioka dengan prosentase 100%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tekanan dan prosentase bahan bakar mempengaruhi nilai kalor dan laju pembakaran biopelet. Laju pembakaran optimum pada komposisi ranting pohon api-api (Avicennian marina) 100% dengan tekanan 500 N/cm2 sebesar 0,005585 g/s. Nilai kalor optimum diperoleh komposisi ranting pohon api-api 50% dan tongkol jagung 50% dengan tekanan 500 N/cm2 sebesar 4740,1012 kal/g. Nilai kalor yang dihasilkan memenuhi standar beberapa negara antara lain Austria, Jerman, dan ITEBE.
ABSTRACT
Biomass is one of alternative energy should be obtained, however it has not been optimally used. The Branches of Api-api (Avicennian marina) and Corncob have potential to be biopellet as an efficient fuel. The purpose of this research towards heat value and combustion velocity which is produced by Biopellet, ratio percentage Branches of Api-api (Avicennian marina) and Corncob 100%:0%, 50%:50%, 0%:100% with pressure changing 500 N/cm2, 100 N/cm2, and 1500 N/cm2. Size of powder is 40 mesh and use glue from tapioca flour 100%. The result of this research finds the pressure and prosentage of fuel influences heat value and combustion velocity of Biopellet. The optimum combustion rate from Branches of Api-api (Avicennian marina) material 100% using pressure 500 N/cm2 is about 0,005585 g/s. The optimum heat value from combination Branches of Api-api (Avicennian marina) material 50% and Corncob 50% using pressure 500 N/cm2 is about 4740,1012 cal/g. Heat value produced fill standard states Austria, Jerman, and ITEBE.
