Abstract

ABSTRAK

Bahan bakar nonfosil merupakan bahan bakar yang diolah dari sumber daya alam yang dapat diperbaharui seperti biomassa. Biomassa merupakan bahan hayati seperti tempurung kelapa, kayu, kotoran ternak dan sebagainya. Penelitian ini menggunakan tempurung kelapa, serbuk kayu dan kotoran sapi sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan briket dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komposisi dan tekanan pengepresan terhadap nilai kalor, kadar air dan kadar abu briket.

Pengarangan tempurung kelapa menggunakan tanur dengan suhu 450°C selama 15 menit. Serbuk kayu diarangkan menggunakan klin drum selama 4-5 jam. Kotoran sapi hanya perlu dikeringkan tanpa proses pengarangan. Briket dibuat dengan mencampurkan arang tempurung kelapa dan arang serbuk kayu dengan prosentase perbandingan komposisi sebagai berikut 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 dan 100:0 dengan tambahan 30 gr kotoran sapi kering. Pencetakan dilakukan dengan tekanan pengepresan sebesar 50 N/em, 100 N/cm dan 150 N/cm. Briket yang telah dicetak, dikeringkan di dalam oven pada suhu 60°C selama 24 jam.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi bahan dan tekanan pengepresan mempengaruhi nilai kalor briket sebesar 20.2%, kadar air sebesar 99,9% dan kadar abu sebesar 99,9%. Nilai kalor, kadar air dan abu optimum pada komposisi 100% arang tempurung kelapa dan pada tekanan pengepresan 150 N/cm.

ABSTRACT

Nonfossil fuel is processed from renewed natural resources such as biomass. Biomass is biological material such as coconut's shell, wood, animal's feces and etc. This study used wood, coconut shell and cow manure as material composition of briquet. The purpose of this study are to determine the effect of composition and pressure pressing against the heat value, water conten and ash content of brqiuet.

Coconut's shell was carbonized by using furnace with temperature 450°C for 15 minutes. Wooden dust was carbonized by using a drum klin for 4-5 hours. Cow's feces only need to be dried without carbonizing process. Comparation of the composition of the coconut shell with wood powder are 0: 100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 and 100:0 with an additional 30 g of dried cow dung with pressing pressure of 50 N/cm, 100 N/cm and 150N/cm. Briquet is dried in an oven at temperature 600°C for 24 hours.

The results of this resreach showed that the composition and the pressing pressure affect heating value of briquettes at 20.2%, water content at 99.9% and ash content at 99.9%, Heat value, water content and ash content are optimum with composition of 100% coconut shell charcoal and pressing pressure of 150 N/cm.
