Abstract
ABSTRAK
Fly ash batubara merupakan limbah material pembakaran batubara yang paling banyak dihasilkan pada pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU) dan mempunyai komposisi mayor seperti SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, dan CaO sehingga memiliki potensi untuk menanggulangi limbah pewarna melalui proses adsorpsi. Malasit hijau merupakan salah satu pewarna sintetik yang telah digunakan secara luas sebagai pewarna tekstil. Malasit hijau juga digunakan sebagai antibakteri pada industri perikanan, akan tetapi efek negatif malasit hijau menghasilkan limbah yang berbahaya sehingga menjadi penting untuk dihilangkan.
Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh pH dan waktu kontak terhadap proses adsorpsi. Persamaan isotermis adsorpsi yang digunakan adalah persamaan isotermis adsorpsi Langmuir dan Freundlich. Penentuan kapasitas dan energi adsorpsi dapat diperoleh melalui persamaan isotermis adsorpsi Langmuir dan Freundlich.
Penentuan pH optimum adsorpsi dilakukan pada rentang pH 1-6 dan diperoleh pH 2 sebagai pH optimum adsorpsi dengan nilai Qe sebesar 1,824 mg/g. Penentuan waktu optimum adsorpsi dilakukan pada rentang waktu 10-50 menit dan diperoleh menit ke-50 sebagai waktu terbaik adsorpsi dengan nilai Qe sebesar 1,824 mg/g. Penelitian ini hanya mengikuti persamaan isotermis adsorpsi Freundlich dengan nilai R2, kapasitas adsorpsi (n), dan energi adsorpsi (Eads) berturut-turut adalah 0,996, 1,005 mol/g, dan 5,778 kJ/mol.
ABSTRACT
Coal fly ash is a waste material of coal combustion produced mostly from plant station and it has major composition such as SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, and CaO those have potentiality to treat waste dye through adsorption. Malachite green, one of the synthetic dyes, has been widely used as dye for textile. Malachite green is also used as antibacterial in fishery industries, but its negative effect causes hazardous waste that is important to be removed.
This research studied the effect of pH, contact time, and Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm. Determination of adsorption capacity and adsorption energy could be obtained from the adsorption isotherm.
Determination of optimum pH of adsorption was done at range of pH 1-6 and was obtained pH 2 as the optimum pH of adsorption with the value of Qe was 1,824 mg/g. Determination of optimum time of adsorption was done at range of time 10-50 minutes and was obtained 50 minutes as the best time of adsorption with the value of Qe was 1,824 mg/g. This research only fit in Freundlich model with the value of R2, adsorption capacity (n), and adsorption energy (Eads) is 0,996, 1,005 mole/g, and 5,778 kJ/mole respectively.
