Abstract
ABSTRACT
Sengguruh and Sutami reservoirs are ways of water storage to anticipate of dryness disaster around Malang regency. Water from both reservoirs is used for irrigation, tourism and Hydro Electric Power Plant (HEPP). Activities around the reservoir influence on water quality and also influence the diversity of organism. The purpose of this study to know the diversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates Sengguruh and Sutami reservoirs.
The research was conducted in Sutami and Sengguruh Reservoirs on May, 2013 and included as descriptive quantitative study with purposive random sampling method. Samples were taken at five stations of each observation waters using Surber Net. Identification of samples was done in the Ecology and Optics laboratory Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
The research results showed that the macroinvertebrates in Sengguruh Reservoir consists of: 14 Atyidaes, 6 Thiaridaes, 2 Pleuroceridaes II, 2 Tubificidaes II, 9 Pleuroceridaes III, 3 Tubificidaes I, 2Chironomidaes I and a Hydropsychidae. In Sutami Reservoir: 5 Atyidaes, 2 Chironomidaes, 2 Libellulidaes II, 6 Lestidaes, 4 Pleuroceridaes II, 7 Caenidaes, 3 Thiaridaes, 3 Pleuroceridae I, and a Coenagrionidae, an Aeshnidae, a Belostomatidae, a Mesoveliidae, a Gerridae, an Ampuliriidae, a Viviparidae, a Hydrobiidae, a Tubificidae II, a Curculionidae. The diversity indexes of macroinvertebrate in Sengguruh Reservoir (1,768) and Sutami Reservoir (2,611), both classified as moderate biota community or the diversity are being abundant. Based on PP No. 82 Th. 2001, pH for Sengguruh Reservoir is unfit for class II and III, whereas Sutami Reservoir has the opposite side; DO of Sengguruh Reservoir has criterion in class III and Sutami Reservoir above class II; BOD5 of Sengguruh Reservoir becomes class II and Sutami Reservoir becomes class III; COD, TSS and TDS Sengguruh dan Sutami reservoirs are decent classes II and III, and levels of mercury (Hg) for both reservoirs are exceeds the water quality standard of class II and III.
