Abstract
ABSTRACT
The Jungle Books novel is described about the feats and experience of Mowgli, a child, who is lost in the jungle. There he is brought up by wolves for ten years; he learns to eat raw meat and pick out thorns from paws. He is taught the law of the jungle by baghera and baloo, his panther and bear friends. He also learns other kinds of lessons from the bees, the monkeys and the tiger. He learns the jungle language, rule of loyalty and ways as good as the other forest creatures. But the tiger shere khan hates him and would kill him. Therefore, he decides to go back to live with the humans in the village. Mowgli is moves from the jungle into the village and he has to adjust himself to his new culture, law, language and new place.
Concerning to the topic which raise in The Jungle Books that is Mowgli’s self adjustment, the researcher is curious to know how are Mowgli’s self adjustment processes, and how successful is Mowgli’s self adjustment. Therefore for the purpose, this thesis is conducted to find out those questions. Hence, the discussion will find out the processes of Mowgli’s self adjustment as the main character in the novel when he lives in the jungle, even in the village.
This analysis used descriptive method with psychological approach. Here the researcher tries to relate the theory about self adjustment which appropriate with Mowgli’s experience and the process of his self adjustment. In addition, the data are taken from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Books.
