Abstract
ABSTRACT
Self-Control is a determination to do something or strength of mind, according to Roy F. Baumeister and John Tierney (2011), Self-Control is important skill in our life and spiritual progress because it gives how to make choice about how to respond negative things and learn to make decision in ways that will be likely to have positive outcomes.
Related to the explanation above, it was interesting to conduct a psychological analysis entitled The Psychological Analysis Bella’s Self-Control in Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn (Based on The Theory of Baumeister).
The statement of problems are (1) What are Bella’s reasons to have Self-Control in her marriage, her sexual, her pregnancy, and her protect to her daughter from Volturi, (2) What are the effects of Bella’s Self-Control?
The researcher observed by theory of willpower by Baumeister. The theory is suitable to be used in this research, because this research will describe psychological condition of the main character on novel “Breaking Dawn”. The contains of novel is related much with psychological approach, Bella as the main character is someone who wants to continue her life gain the Self-Control by Baumeister’s theory.
Methodologically, researcher applies psychological approach to deal with the data, the approach is to find out the aspect of the main character’s Self-Control in the novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. Based on the analysis, the researcher finds that Bella and her Self-Control can pass her hard condition in her life such us, her marriage, her sexual, her pregnancy, and her protecting her daughter. Bella can solves her problem as well as she want. Bella’s Self-Control can pioneer all people around her, which can stand up for Bella.
All people in this world have a willing or idea, they wish is come true with anyway. Ever willing and idea does not will be cause a negative effect in our lives. The important thing is always do our best, run hard and prays to God Allah, surely you would know, how important you’re willing and your dreaming come true in your life. Like Bella and her Self-Control, she reaches all her willing and her idea by hard to the death. That’s why the novel named by Breaking Dawn, which means by until the death.
