It also tried to find which language style most frequently accurred. The researcher chooses the students of tourism school at Merdeka University of Malang because conversation of the tourism program was more interesting that other programs.
The main theory of the types of language style was Abdul Chaer’s theory (2000). This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The researcher got the data from the students of tourism school at Merdeka University of Malang. In her analysis, the researcher classified the types of language style, that are formal and informal language styles. Then she analyzed all her data. The researcher found that the students of tourism tended to use informal language style rather than formal language style in making their conversation
From the findings and analysis, the researcher found that there were two types of language style produced by students of tourism school at Merdeka University of Malang in order to guiding the tour, that were formal and informal language style. In this case, informal language style occupies the highest occurrence with thirty one and followed by formal language style in the second highest with nine sentences. The findings above indicate that the researcher has answered the two questions in the statement of the problem.
The researcher also has some interpretation about some possible reasons why informal language style occurred more than formal language style in this data. First, most of the guides speak non-standard vocabulary in their daily lives. Second, the sentences of informal language style are usually short and incomplete sentences and it makes easier to speak without attention to the grammar.
