The refusal expressions most frequently used in “Brave” movie are indirect refusal expression avoidance and indirect refusal attempt to dissuade interlocutor. Meanwhile, the refusal expressions most frequently used in “Tangled” movie is direct refusal non performative. Furthermore, there are three kinds of refusal expression that exist in those movies, those are: indirect refusal gives excuse reason and explanation, indirect refusal attempts to dissuade interlocutor and direct refusal non performative. The researcher did not find refusal expression kind of adjunct to refusal in those movies.

The main characters both “Brave” movie and “Tangled” movie have the same characteristic in refusing the offer or invitation, they use indirect refusal expression almost in the begining of the movie, they use it in order to decrease the negative effect possibility that occurs. On the other hand, the use of direct refusal expression is almost used by the main characters in the raising of the movie when the main characters has a conflict because they want to show their principle. The social environment influences to shape the personal character. The personal character is reflected by the speech act and the language used, including the refusal expression that he or she used.

The researcher suggests to the next researchers to study more complete and use new theory of refusal expression research, such as the function of refusal expression.
