Abstract
ABSTRACT
The substance of principal discussion in this research is expected to present” women emancipation on career in charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre.” Through this research, the writer tries to describe a common assumption that being global issues in varieties of life between men and women. It is known that several societies discriminate women in several aspects such as differences of social level, superiority, personality, self-development, and competition on getting a job. Therefore, women are difficult to develop their skill and their mind as well as men. From this novel, Jane Eyre, it is recognized that actually women have abilities as well as men and they are able to break away from superiority of men, isolation, decimation, and dependent person.
Therefore, in this research, the writer wants to change a sense of discrimination into a sense of emancipation on career by presenting life’s good and spirit of Jane Eyre in looking for a job. Furthermore, the writer considers that women have opportunities on their own talent and interest to decide both their jobs and pursue their dreams. Therefore, with women emancipation, there are possibilities to create the equality in career between men and women. Furthermore, the essence of career women has several reasons and advantages of being career women, and it has ideas of women emancipation in career.
Furthermore, the writer uses appropriate theory to describe this object. The theory that is used in this study is feminist literary criticism that focused on liberal feminism in Naomi Wolf’s perspective. It emphasizes how women addressee or express the variety of particular experiences in life. She uses it because liberal feminism asserts the equality of men and women. It is an individualistic form of feminism which focuses on women ability in order to women have bravery and self-confidence to show and maintain their equality through their own actions and choices. In addition, this research is conducted by applying the literary criticism that analyze and interpret the reflection of main female character in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. Moreover, relating the result of interpreting based on liberal feminism in Naomi Wolf perspective.
The data analysis revealed some research findings that are formulated in research problems. The results of this study are conducted by interpreting both action and dialogue of Jane Eyre in Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. Furthermore, the result analysis of this research involves three categories. The first category is the reasons to be a career woman who is expected to help an economical income of family, to create Jane’s desire of being an independent person, indictment of environment around her, and to prioritize educational aspect. The second category is the advantages of being a career woman which include into a brilliant satisfaction in Jane Eyre herself, being able to fulfill her economical income of her family, exploring her ability, and making a good relationship to other people. In addition, the last category is the ideas of women emancipation on career that includes into the ways of Jane Eyre’s efforts for getting opportunity in seeking a job, Jane’s view about women opportunity on career, and the ways of maintaining the job.
