Abstract
ABSTRACT
Obesity is the excessive accumulation of adipose tissue triasilgliserol because of imbalance (imbalance) between energy intakes with their use. A popular view that obesity begins from emotional problems are not resolved. Fat people are usually unhappy, but her inner pressure primarily as a result rather than cause more obesity. Emotion regulation is a set of processes, either automatic or controlled, which occurred before or after activation of emotion and are available to increase strength, maintain or reduce its intensity.
This research aims to determine the level of obesity and regulation of emotions in students at SMAN 1 Malang and find out if there is a correlation between two variables.
This research uses quantitative methods. Subject of research as much as 21 respondents that had obesity. The data was collected by the method of measuring obesity, a scale questionnaire and interview. Analysis of research data using the product moment correlation from Pearson and for validation and reliability test, the researcher employs the formula of Alpha Cronbach that is processed with SPSS 16.0 for windows programme.
Based the result of this research, it known that: the variable of obesity contained; 86% of student categorized overweight, 14% of students categorized obese (grade I obesity). While the variables of emotion regulation are; 0% of students categorized high; 9.5% of students were categorized medium, and 90.5% of students categorized low. The results of the correlation between obesity with regulation of emotion on Student at SMAN 1 Malang indicated no significant correlation (rxy = 0.210; sig = 0.362> 0.05).
