Abstract

ABSTRAK

Punishment merupakan alat pendidikan, meskipun mengakibatkan penderitaan bagi si siswa yang terhukum, namun dapat juga menjadi alat motivasi, alat pendorong untuk mempergiat aktivitas belajar siswa (meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa). Ia berusaha untuk dapat selalu memenuhi tugas-tugas belajarnya, agar terhindar dari bahaya hukuman. Seorang santri akan mendapatkan punishment jika melakukan pelanggaran tata tertib pondok pesantren, Dengan adanya punishment itu diharapkan supaya santri dapat menyadari kesalahan yang diperbuatnya, sehingga santri jadi berhati-hati dalam mengambil tindakan. Dalam memberikan punishment guru tidak boleh bertindak sewenang-wenang,punishment yang diberikan itu harus bersifat pedagogis dan bukan karena balas dendam. Punishmentbisa dikatakan berhasil apabila dapat menimbulkan perasaan penyesalan akan perbuatan yang telah dilakukannya.

Atas dasar latar belakang di atas, maka yang menjadi rumusan masalah adalah tentang bagaimanakah implementasi pemberian punishment dalam
pembentukan karakter santri yang berkhlakul karimah di Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang, bagaimanakah dampak setelah pemberian punishmentbagi santri di Pondok.

Jenis penelitian yang peneliti gunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi.

Adapun data-data yang bersifat kualitatif maka digunakan analisis deskriptif data penelitian kualitatif. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti adalah bentuk punishmentyang diberikan pengasuh dan penguruspondok pesantren dalam membentuk karakter santri yang berakhlakul karimah adapunmacam-macam bentukpunishmentada yang bersifat preventif, misalnya;
adanya tata tertib, anjuran dan perintah, larangan paksaan, disiplin. Kemudian punishment
represif, misalnya; pemberitahuan, teguran, peringatan, hukuman, ganjaran. Kemudian dari hasil observasi peneliti setelah diterapkan punishment ada dampak yang dibuktikan, mayoritas santri mengaku menjadi lebih baik setelah diberikan punishmentdengan alasan malu, kasihan orang tua, takut ilmunya tidak manfaat jika suka melanggar peraturan pondok pesantren, dan lain sebagainya.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, di atas penulis memberikan saran sebagai berikut : hendaknya pemberian punishmenttidak semata-mata diberikan kepada santri tanpa alasan, sebenarnya ada beberapa santri yang memang hanya mencari sensasi agar pengurus lebih memperhatikan keberadaannya, hendaknya setiap hukuman disesuaikan dengan bobot permasalahan pelanggaran dengan adil, pengurus lebih memperhatikan santri yang sering kali melakukan pelanggaran karena dari hasil temuan peneliti membuktikan bahwa mayoritas santri yang sering melakukan pelanggaran adalah santri-santri yang merasa kurang perhatian khususnya dari lingkungan keluarganya kerjasama antara pengurus, pengasuh, dan orang sangat dibutuhkan agar tercapainya tujuan pondok pesantren yaitu mencetak karakter santri yang berakhlakul karimah.

ABSTRACT

Punishment is a mean of education, although, it can make the punished students feel injured, but it can be a mean that can motivate them to be more active in studying (increasing the studemts’ motivation). The students try to to fullfil their duties to study, so they will be not punished. A student will be punished if she/he does not obey the rules in the boarding school. Punishment is expexted to make the students aware of their mistakes, so the students will be careful in doing something. In giving punishment, the teacher is not allowed to arbitrat. Punishment that is given has to be pedagogical and not revenge. Punishment will be success if it makes the students fell guilty and regret for all of the thing that they have done.

For that background, so the research problem is about how the implementation of giving punishment in making good character “akhlakul karimah” to the students of Bahrul Ulum Boarding School at Tambakberas Jombang, how is the impact after giving punishment for the students in boarding school.

This research uses qualitative research, the data collection are done by interview, observation, and documentation.

The qualitative data are used to analyze descriptive data qualitative research. The result of this research is the punishment that was given by the leader of the boarding school in making a good character (akhlakul karimah). The characteristic of punhishment are preventive (rules, advise, command, prohibition, and discipline) and represive (announcement, warning, reminder, punishment, reward). Then, the result of observation after aplying punishment is prooved. Almost the students admit that they feel better after getting punishment, their reasons are because of their parents, felling shy, and they feel afraid of their science will be not useful if they are do not obey the rules of their boarding school.

Based on the result of this research, the writer gives suggestion. Those are:
The punishment should be given on purpose, actually, there are some students who just look for sensation in order to the leader of the boarding school will be care of them. The punishment should be appropriate with the mistakes that the students have done.
The leaders are more care to the students who do not obey the rules, the writer finds that almost the students who do not obey the rules are the students who are less attention especially from their family. So, by giving punishment, it is expected to make a good attitude for the students in boarding school (Akhlakul Karimah).
