Abstract

INDONESIA :

Indonesia yang merupakan bangsa dengan tingkat keberagaman yang tinggi, beberapa dekade terakhir ini dihadapkan pada beberapa konflik yang berlatarbelakangkan perbedaan, baik itu perbedaan agama, suku atau budaya. Dalam hal ini, pendidikan agama dinilai gagal dalam menjalankan salah satu perannya, yaitu mewujudkan masyarakat Indonesia yang dapat menciptakan kerukunan dan kedamaian. Salah satu faktor kegagalan pendidikan agama ini adalah kurangnya penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan yang memiliki semangat multikultural. Sehingga, upaya ke arah penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural di lembaga-lembaga pendidikan tidak dapat ditawar lagi, termasuk di Perguruan Tinggi. Universitas Islam Malang (selanjutnya disebut Unisma) adalah salah satu lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang saat ini telah melaksanakan penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural bagi para mahasiswanya.

Penelitian ini berusaha mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis tentang penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural yang ada di Unisma dengan fokus kajiannya mencakup: 1) prinsip-prinsip penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural; 2) Implementasi penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural; dan 3) Implikasi penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural terhadap sikap toleransi mahasiswa.

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan temuan dilakukan dengan cara perpanjangan keikutsertaan peneiliti; teknik triangulasi sumber dan metode. Adapun untuk informan dalam penelitian ini adalah: Kepala Dewan Pembina Yayasan Unisma, para Pimpinan Unisma, Ketua lembaga-lembaga terkait, beberapa dosen, dan mahasiswa.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa: 1) prinsip-prinsip penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural di Unisma didasarkan pada beberapa prinsip, yaitu: keterbukaan (openness), toleransi (tolerance), bersatu dalam perbedaan (unity in diversity), dan Islam rahmatan lil’alamin sebagai leader; 2) implementasi penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural di Unisma terpolakan menjadi dua, yaitu multicultural knowing dan multicultural feeling. Multicultural knowing diberikan melalui beberapa kegiatan seperti Orientasi Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru (Oshika Maba), Halaqoh Diniyah, dan Mata Kuliah Agama Islam 1-5. Adapun multicultural feeling ditanamkan melalui kegiatan student day; dan 3) penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural di Unisma memiliki implikasi yang positif terhadap sikap toleransi para mahasiswa Unisma.

ENGLISH :

Indonesia is a nation with high level of diversity, the last decades faced on many conflicts with different backgrounds, is that about differences in religion, ethnicity or culture. In this case, religious education failing in operating one of its roles which to fulfill Indonesian society to create harmony and peace. One factor of the failure religious education is the lack of value investment that has the spirit of multicultural education. Thus, efforts towards the value investment of multicultural education in educational institutions can’t be negotiated, including universities. Malang Islamic University (then called Unisma) is one of the highest education which has been implementing the value invesment of multicultural education for its students.

This research try to describes and analyzes value investment of multicultural education in Unisma with its focus of study as follows: 1) Principles of value investment multicultural education; 2) Implementation of value investment multicultural education; and 3) Implications of value investment multicultural education towards tolerance of student manner.

This research uses qualitative descriptive with case study arrangement. To collect the data, the writer collects through interviewing, observating and documenting. Technique of data analysis include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Checking the validity of data findings made by doing extension of the participation of the research; triangulation source techniques and methods. For the informants in this research are: Head of Unisma Foundation Board, the leaders of Unisma, Chairman of the concerned institutions, lectures, and students.

The results of this research showed: 1) The principles of value investment of multicultural education in Unisma is based on several principles--openness, tolerance, unity in diversity and Islam rahmatan lil’alamin as leader; 2) Implementation of value investment of multicultural education in Unisma has two patterns: multicultural knowing and multicultural feeling. Multicultural knowing given through several activities such as New Student Life Orientation (Oshika Maba), Halaqoh Diniyah, and Subjects Islam 1-5. The multicultural feeling instills through Student Day; and 3) Value investment of multicultural education in Unisma has positive implications on the attitudes of the students Unisma tolerance.
