Abstract

INDONESIA:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh trait big five personality terhadap karyawan swasta Rumah Sakit Nahdlotul Ulama Jombang. Trait tersebut terdiri dari openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, dan neuroticism. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah karyawan swasta Rumah Sakit Nahdlotul Ulama Jombang yang berjumlah 80 karyawan. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala psikologi hasil adaptasi dan dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS 17.00. Pengumpulan data keterlibatan kerja (work engagement) menggunakan skala yang diadaptasi dari Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) dimana skala ini disusun oleh Schaufeli dan Bakker. Sedangkan data big five personality menggunakan skala big five inventory (BFI) yang dikembangkan oleh Oliver P. John. Hasil reliabilitas skala keterlibatan kerja menunjukkan Alpha Cronbach's sebesar 0.917. Sedangkan reliabilitas trait openness to experience sebesar 0.830, trait conscientiousness sebesar 0.741, trait extraversion sebesar 0.800, trait agreeableness sebesar 0.639, dan trait neuroticism sebesar 0.735. Adapun daya beda dari variabel big five personality maupun keterlibatan kerja > 0.3.

Hasil uji deskripsi menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan kerja karyawan RSNU Jombang yang termasuk ke dalam katergori tinggi sebesar 13.75% (11 orang), kemudian karyawan dengan kategori sedang sebesar 65% (52 orang), serta karyawan dengan kategori rendah sebesar 13.75% (11 orang). Sedangkan, karyawan yang cenderung ke tipe kepribadian openness to experience sebanyak 11 orang, karyawan yang cenderung pada tipe kepribadian conscientiousness sebanyak 12 orang, karyawan yang cenderung pada tipe kepribadian extraversion sebanyak 18 orang, karyawan yang cenderung pada tipe kepribadian agreeableness sebanyak 15 orang, dan karyawan yang cenderung pada tipe kepribadian neuroticism sebanyak 24 orang. Sementara hasil uji regresi berganda secara keseluruhan menunjukkan adanya pengaruh antara big five personality dengan keterlibatan kerja dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.000 pada taraf signifikansi 0.05 (5%). Akan tetapi, dari dimensi yang terdapat pada big five personality hanya satu yang secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap keterlibatan kerja karyawan swasta RSNU Jombang, yaitu dimensi openness to experience.

ENGLISH:

This research aims at investigating the Influence of Big Five Personality Traits toward Employees’ Work Engagement in Nahdlotul Ulama Hospital, Jombang. Those traits consist of openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. This research uses quantitative approach through survey method. The research subjects are derived from Employees of Nahdlotul Ulama Private Hospital Jombang which consist of 80 employees. The data were taken using SPSS 17.00 through psychological scale. The data of work engagement were collected using the scale of Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) proposed by Schaufeli dan Bakker and big five inventory (BFI) by Oliver P. John. The reliability scale of work engagement shows Alpha Cronbach's is 0.917. Reliability trait of openness to experience, 0.830. Conscientiousness trait is 0.741, extraversion trait is 0.800. Agreeableness trait is 0.639. And neuroticism trait is 0.735. Thus, capacity balance variable both big five personalities and work engagement is > 0.3.

The results of this study show that Work Engagement of Employees in Nahdlotul Ulama Hospital Jombang which are classified as high category amounted to 13.75% (11 employees). Average category of employees are 65% (52 employees), low category of employees are 13.75% (11 employees). Whereas, the total tendency of openness to experience personality are 11 employees, conscientiousness personality are 12 employees, extraversion personality are 18 employees, agreeableness personality are 15 employees, and neuroticism personality are 24 employees. The results of the whole regression tests show that there is influence between big five personality and work engagement which gives signification score 0.000 with degree of signification 0.05 (5%). These are supported from F score arithmetic which show > F table 9.006 > 2.34. However, there is only one from big five personality dimensions whose significance influence employees’ work engagement in Nahdlotul Ulama Hospital Jombang. That is openness to experience dimension.
