Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Penobscot oil field located in the Sable sub-basin, in the north of Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. With a length of 7.2 km and a width of 12.03 km and has an area of 86.62 km2, had number of inline 600 (1000-1600) and crossline 481 (1000-1481) and Z between 0 to 6000 ms. This field is formed during the second time period of rifting, the middle Triassic - late Triassic which led the North American and the African continent completely split. Then the late Jurassic period until Cretaeous in which there are some transgression sedimentation due to sea water.
Acoustic Impedance Inversion (IA) with a well controlled with LE done on Petrel Member formation target zone. There is a low gamma ray value and the cross-over between the neutron porosity and density logs which indicate the presence of hydrocarbons in it. By using model-based inversion techniques and Sparse spike to the identification of carbonate reservoir distribution. So it will come by the comparison between the two techniques conclusion inversion with the most appropriate for use in vertical interpretation. Then to determine the distribution of carbonates in the target zone laterally using RMS attribute inversion.
Based on the crossplot analysis, value of carbonate acoustic impedance between 23,000 to 31,000 (m/s)*(g/cc). Based on the analysis that has been done, the inversion technique is most appropriate to describe the real situation in the target zone Petrel Member is Sparse spike inversion. With the spread of carbonates from the northeast to the southwest towards the mainland. Precipitation occurred in a shallow sea due to sea level rise at the end of the Cretaceous era.
