Abstract
Fairy-tale is one of the most influential modes of information delivery in the development process of numerous cultures all around the globe, including Indonesia. However, from the total number of 439 museums in Indonesia, there is no specific object that accommodates fairy-tales as its main exhibition material. The designing of Museum of Fairy-tales is aimed to provide an object that does not only hold the purpose of conservation and preservation center, but also provides an educational and entertaining place. This object is located in Jl. K. H. Ashari, Malang (nearby Jami’ Mosque), because this area is one of the main targets for tourism development.
Since the design implemented ‘Poetry as A Poetic Palette’ approach, the process also involved a poetry book titled “Museum Masa Kecil (The Museum of Childhood)” by Avianti Armand (Gramedia Pustaka Utama, 2018). In the beginning, there were two poetries from the book that were used for mass placement and shape transformations. However, in the further phases, there are several titles that affected the design process of both interior and exterior of the primary buildings. On the one hand, as an exhibition place, the gallery is the only building that has been designed as a three-floored entity, involving six poetries from the book. In contrast, laboratory, edu-playground, story-telling space, library, and merchandise store were designed using only two titles form the book for each building.
