Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Dragon scales spikes (Pyrrosia piloselloides) is one of the epiphytic plants which includes to one of the family of Polypodiaceae. These spikes are usually grown on the surface of the tree trunk that has a humid environmental conditions and exposure sufficient sunlight. Several different types of trees will bring different morphological characters. Therefore, this study aimed to determine in the character of dragon scales spikes based on different host trees.
The samples were taken from three species of host trees which exist in Brawijaya University, including oil palm trees, palms, and mahogany. Each tree is selected as many as 3 repetitions. Morphological observation consists of organ rhizomes, leaves, roots adhesive, and spores. Observations were conducted directly in the field and in the laboratory for sample optical adhesive roots, spores, rhizomes scales, feathers and leaves. Morphological data which obtained is analyzed using operational taxonomic units (STO).
Based on the results obtained, percentage value equation character of each organ is rhizoma 90%, 66.67% leaves, roots adhesive 75%, and 80% spores. Striking differences from all the characters organs that observed is exist in the organ of tropofil leaves. These differences can occur due to genetic and environmental factors. Nevertheless, the percentage values indicate that genetic factors are more dominant than the environmental factors.
