Abstract
ABSTRACT
Dermatophytosis is a disease caused by a superficial fungus infection. One of the causes of dermatophytosis is Trichophyton rubrum fungus, especially in tinea pedis and tinea unguium. Cases of resistance to several types of antifungal drugs have been reported againts dermatophytosis cases. Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf contains metabolite compounds that have antifungal pontential. This research aimed was to prove the antifungal potential of Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf extract, to determine Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf extract effective in different concentrations, to get Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Fungicidal Concentration. Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf extraction using maceration method with 90% methanol as a solvent. The antifungal activity test of the Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf extract was tested using well diffusion method to determine the effect of different concentrations and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and tube dilution methode to determine the Minimum Fungisidal Concentration. The results showed that Schleichera oleosa (kesambi) leaf extract with 90% methanol solvent did not have antifungal activity, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Fungisidal Concentration against Trichophyton rubrum fungus.
ABSTRAK
Dermatofitosis merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh infeksi jamur superfisial yang salah satunya dari kelompok jamur Trichophyton rubrum, terutama pada tinea pedis dan tinea unguium. Kasus resistensi pada beberapa jenis obat antifungi telah dilaporkan terhadap kasus dermatofitosis. Daun kesambi (Schelichera oleosa) mengandung senyawa metabolit yang memiliki potensi sebagai antifungi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan potensi ekstrak daun kesambi (Schleichera oleosa) sebagai antifungi terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Trichophyton rubrum, untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak daun kesambi terhadap zona bening yang terbentuk, penentuan Kadar Hambat Minimum (KHM), serta Kadar Bunuh Minimum (KBM). Ekstraksi daun kesambi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi dengan pelarut metanol 90%. Uji aktivitas antifungi ekstrak daun kesambi dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi terhadap zona hambat yang terbentuk dan menentukan nilai Kadar Hambat Minimum (KHM) serta dilusi tabung untuk menentukan nilai Kadar Bunuh Minimum (KBM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun kesambi (Schleichera oleosa) dengan pelarut methanol 90% tidak memiliki aktivitas antifungi terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Trichophyton rubrum. Tidak didapatkan nilai Kadar Hambat Minimum (KHM) dan Kadar Bunuh Minimum (KBM) ekstrak daun kesambi (Schleichera oleosa) terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Trichophyton rubrum.
