Abstract
INDONESIA:
Profesi guru sangat mulia dan terhormat di mata masyarakat Indonesia, karena pekerjaannya mendidik anak agar menjadi manusia yang berguna. Wacana yang berkembang diseputar profesi guru memiliki dinamika yang kompleks. Profesi guru di mata masyarakat desa adalah profesi sangat di hormati. Sesorang yang berprofesi sebagai guru akan mendapatkan tempat yang terpandang dalam masyarakat. Minat untuk menjadi profesi guru kedudukannya masih di bawah profesi bergengsi lainya seperti dokter, perbankan dan pekerjaan kantor lainnya. Prestise profesi guru dan tingkat kegengsian terhadap profesi tersebut masih rendah di bandingkan profesi lainya.
Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam usaha mencapai tujuan penelitian, yakni (1) untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana persepsi masyarakat desa terhadap profesi guru, (2) untuk menderkripsikan bagaimana kedudukan profesi guru di masyarakat Desa Karangsono Kecamatan Bangsalsari Kabupaten Jember
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis deskriptif, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Kemudian data yang telah dikumpulkan berupa kata-kata dianalisis teknik analisis deskripsi kualitatif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) persepsi masyarakat Desa Karangsono terhadap profesi guru baik karena mereka berasumsi bahwa profesi guru dapat mendidik dan mengajar anak- anak yang ada di Desa karangsono. Hal ini juga didukung oleh kemampuan dalam hal intelektual atau kualitas pengetahuan dari perguruan tinggi, begitu pula kemampuan guru dalam berkiprah di masyarakat. Meskipun persepsi masyarakat terhadap profesi guru baik, akan tetapi minat masyarakat terhadap profesi tidak terlalu tinggi. karena masyarakat beranggapan bahwa profesi guru dalam hal finansial kurang menjajikan dibandingkan profesi yang lain,, (2) masyarakat mempunyai ekspektasi yang sangat tinggi dari para guru, baik dari sisi sikap, perkataan maupun perilakunya.Sikap, perkataan dan perilaku yang diharapkan dari seorang guru, sama dengan seorang ustadz atau pemuka agama. Artinya bahwa masyarakat mengharapkan guru bersikap, bertutur dan bertindak layaknya seorang ustad. dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa guru itu mempunyai peran dan pengaruh yang sangat besar dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. sehingga guru bisa disebut sebagai agent of change yang berperan dalam inovator, motivator, maupun fasilitator. Tetap selalu menjaga sikap, tutur kata dan perilakunya di tengah-tengah masyarakat.
ENGLISH:
The teaching profession is very noble and respected in the eyes of the Indonesian people, because of their work in educating children to become useful human beings. Currently the discourse that develops around the teaching profession has complex dynamics. The teaching profession in the eyes of the village community is a highly respected profession. Someone who works as a teacher will get a respected place in society. Although in general the interest to become a teaching profession is still below other prestigious professions such as doctors, banking and other office work. So that the prestige of the teaching profession and the level of prestige of the profession are still low compared to other professions.
This research was conducted in an effort to achieve research objectives, namely (1) to describe how perceptions of rural communities towards the teaching profession, (2) to describe how the position of the teaching profession in the community of Karangsono Village, Bangsalsari District, Jember Regency
This research uses a qualitative approach and descriptive type research, data collection is done using the method of observation, interviews, documentation. Then the data collected in the form of words were analyzed by qualitative description analysis techniques.
The results showed that (1) Karangsono village community perception of the teaching profession is good because they assume that the teaching profession can educate and teach children in Karangsono Village. This is also supported by the ability in terms of intellectual or quality of knowledge from universities, as well as the ability of teachers to take part in society. Although people's perceptions of the teaching profession are good, their interest in the profession is not too high. because people assume that the teaching profession in financial terms is less promising than other professions, (2) society has very high expectations from teachers, both in terms of attitudes, words and behavior. The attitudes, words and behavior expected of a teacher, the same as an ustadz or religious leader. It means that the community expects the teacher to behave, speak and act like an ustad. it can be concluded that the teacher has a very large role and influence in social life. so the teacher can be called an agent of change who plays a role in the innovator, motivator, and facilitator. So, a teacher must always maintain his attitude, speech and behavior in the midst of society, that is by adjusting to applicable norms.
