Abstract
INDONESIA:
Para teoritis emosi sampai saat ini masih memperdebatkan universalitas ekspresi emosi, terlebih pada emosi marah. Faktanya ekspresi emosi dipengaruhi oleh budaya. Misalnya konflik Sampit dan peristiwa di Geneva, penyebabnya adalah adanya emotional illerate, yaitu buta dalam memahami emosi dan kesalahan dalam mengekspresikan emosinya sesuai dengan norma sosial yang berlaku. Sehingga untuk menguji premis tersebut digunakan pendekatan indigenous psychology. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengeksplorasi konsep emosi marah pada masyarakat Indonesia dan menguji premis di atas.
Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mix method. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner terbuka yang berisi pertanyaan mengenai definisi emosi marah, pengistilahan khas emosi marah, pengenalan ciri emosi marah, relasi individu penyebab emosi marah, pengekspresian, faktor penyebab, dan regulasi emosi marah. Responden dalam penelitian terdiri dari 254 orang yang tersebar dalam enam suku di Indonesia, yaitu suku Jawa, suku Sunda, suku Madura, suku Bugis-Makassar, suku Batak, dan suku Minang. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis open-ended, kategorisasi tanggapan, dan tabulasi silang dengan kategori suku.
Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Indonesia mendefinisikan emosi marah dengan bentuk perilaku, penyebab emosi marah, dampak, emosi marah, instrumental, dan sabar. Istilah emosi marah dalam setiap suku memiliki istilah khas masing-masing. Pengenalan emosi marah dengan melihat perubahan ekspresi wajah, ekspresi pasif, perubahan intonasi, ekspresi verbal, dan agresif. Relasi individu penyebab emosi marah adalah teman, orang lain, keluarga, dan pasangan. Ekspresi emosi marah yang ditampilkan adalah ekspresi pasif, verbal negatif, bahasa tubuh, verbal positif, aktif fisik, dan ekspresi religius. Faktor penyebab emosi marah adalah hal tidak menyenangkan, dihina, gangguan, pelanggaran norma, kekecewaan, dan pelanggaran kepercayaan. Terakhir, regulasi emosi yang ditawarkan adalah religius coping, diam, mengalihkan, hydro therapy, menghindar, regulasi diri, mengacuhkan, menyelesaikan masalah, berganti posisi, tersenyum, berpikir positif, dan memprovokasi lawan. Berdasarkan analisis terdapat perbedaan konsep emosi marah antar suku di Indonesia. Perbedaan tersebut hanya melingkupi istilah, faktor penyebab, dan regulasi emosi marah.

Emotional theorists are debating the universality of emotional expression, especially in anger emotions. In fact, emotional expression is strongly influenced by culture. For example, the Sampit conflict and the Geneva events are caused by emotional illiterate, which is the absence of emotion understanding and mistakes in expressing emotions in accordance with prevailing social norms. Therefore, to examine the premise, the indigenous psychology approach is used. The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of anger according to the Indonesian people and test the aforementioned premise.
This study employed mixed method approach. The data of this study was collected using an open-ended questionnaire which consisted of questions about the definition of anger, the typical terminology of anger, introduction of the signs of anger, individual relations to emotions of anger, expression, causal factors, and regulation of anger emotions. Respondents in this study involved 254 people scattered from six ethnicities in Indonesia, namely the Javanese, Sundanese, Madurese, Bugis-Makassar, Batak, and Minang tribes. The data was analyzed using open-ended analysis, response categorization, and cross tabulation with ethnicity categories.
The research findings show that Indonesian people defines anger in forms of behavior, causes of anger, impacts, anger, instruments, and patience. Anger for each ethnic has its own distinctive terms. The introduction of anger can be seen from changes in facial expressions, passive expressions, changes in intonation, verbal expression, and aggression. Individual relationships that cause anger are friends, others, family, and partners. Anger is expressed through passive expressions, negative verbal, body language, positive verbal, physical activity and religious expressions. Factors that cause anger include unpleasant, insulted, disturbances, norm violations, disappointments, and violations of trust. Finally, the emotion regulations offered are religious coping, silence, distraction, hydro therapy, avoidance, self-regulation, ignorance, problem solving, changing positions, smiling, positive thinking, and provoking opponents. Based on the analysis there are differences in the concept of anger between ethnicities in Indonesia. The difference only covers terms, causes, and regulation of angry emotions.
