Abstract
INDONESIA :
ENGLISH :
Copper (Cu) is an essential element for the human body in small quantities, but is toxic in large quantities. Cu contamination in waters in Indonesia continues to increase ranging from 0.03 - 2 mg / L and has the potential to endanger humans. Though a maximum content of Cu only 0.02 mg / L is allowed to be contained in water. Cu contamination in the waters can be reduced by hydrilla plants through phytoremediation. Hydrilla is a hyperaccumulator plant. Hydrilla plants are taken from Lake Ranu Grati Pasuruan. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in Cu metal concentration on the remediation activities of hydrilla plants. The stages of the study included: sampling, acclimatization, exposure of samples with Cu metal, wet sample destruski covered, and analysis of Cu content in the sample. Cu content analysis was carried out using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) instruments. The result is that hydrilla is able to accumulate the most Cu at the initial Cu concentration of 3 mg / L with an absorption percent value of 98.07%. The average hydrilla absorbs> 90% Cu from the initial Cu concentration. The part of the leaves of the hydrilla plant accumulates Cu better than the stem part. It is seen from the leaf BCF value that is greater than the overall BCF value of the stem. Hydrilla Cu absorption is the fastest to run for 7 days of exposure, because the absorption of Cu by hydrilla under 7 days is still not optimal.
