Abstract
INDONESIA :
Pemanfaatan selulosa dari limbah ampas tebu untuk pembuatan beads alginat: selulosa diharapkan dapat meningkatkan nilai mutu dari limbah pertanian maupun industri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi komposisi alginat: selulosa terhadap karakterisasi ukuran beads dan pengaruhnya terhadap morfologi permukaan beads, serta mengetahui komposisi alginat: selulosa xantat terbaik dalam pembuatan beads. Komposit beads alginat: selulosa xantat dibuat dengan variasi komposisi 2:0, 2:2, dan 2:6. Beads yang terbentuk kemudian dianalisis menggunakan mikroskop optik dan diukur diameter antar beads menggunakan aplikasi image-j. Morfologi sampel dikarakterisasi menggunakan SEM-EDX.
Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa penambahan jumlah selulosa pada bembuatan beads berpengaruh terhadap daya sweeling dan diameter beads. Ukuran diameter terbaik berdasarkan pengukuran setelah uji sweeling diperoleh dari variasi alginat: selulosa 2:6, yakni sebesar 2,1mm. Hasil analisis morfologi permukaan beads menggunakan SEM-EDX juga menunjukkan pola beads berpori dan diperoleh hasil terbaik pada variasi komposisi alginat: selulosa 2:6 dengan nilai Zn sebesar 33,14%, yang berarti memiliki daya adsorbsi lebih besar dibandingkan dengan variasi komposisi lainnya.

The use of cellulose from sugarcane pulp for the manufacture of alginate: cellulose beads is expected to increase the quality value of agricultural and industrial waste. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of variations in the composition of alginate: cellulose on the characterization of beads size and its effect on the surface morphology of the beads, as well as knowing the composition of alginate: cellulose xanthate best in making beads. Composite beads alginate: cellulose xanthate made with variations in composition 2: 0, 2: 2, and 2: 6. The beads formed were then analyzed using an optical microscope and measured between beads using an image-j application. The morphology of the sample was characterized using SEM-EDX.
The results of characterization showed that the addition of the number of cellulose in the making of beads affected the sweeping power and the diameter of the beads. The best diameter size based on measurements after the sweeling test was obtained from variations of alginate: 2: 6 cellulose, which is equal to 2.1mm. The results of the analysis of beads surface morphology using SEM-EDX also showed a pattern of porous beads and obtained the best results on variations in the composition of alginate: 2: 6 cellulose with Zn values of 33.14%, which means that it has greater adsorption power than other composition variations.
