Abstract
INDONESIA:
Biodiesel merupakan energi alternatif pengganti bahan bakar fosil. Bahan baku yang berasal dari tumbuhan menjadikan ketersediaannya melimpah tidak seperti minyak bumi. Proses pembuatan biodiesel diperoleh dari reaksi transesterifikasi minyak jarak dan metanol dengan bantuan katalis berupa zeolit yang sudah diaktivasi dan dimodifikasi. Aktivasi zeolit dilakukan dengan penambahan HCL 6 M selama 4 jam. Modifikasi katalis zeolit dilakukan dengan gelombang ultrasonik selama 10 menit dengan perbandingan konsentrasi KOH sebesar 50, 60, dan 70 %. Hasil karakterisasi XRD zeolit modifikasi menunjukkan tidak terbentuknya K2O, akan tetapi selama proses modifikasi terjadi interaksi antara KOH dan zeolit sehingga mengakibatkan pergeseran dan pengurangan puncak zeolit. Reaksi transesterifikasi pembentukan biodiesel dilakukan selama 7 jam pada suhu 60 ºC dengan berbandingan mol minyak dengan metanol sebesar 1:15 dan persen berat katalis terhadap berat minyak sebesar 17 %. Biodiesel yang menggunakan katalis KOH/zeolit 50 dan 60 dan 70 % menghasilkan konversi biodiesel sebesar 99,882; 99,05 dan 99,99 %.

Biodiesel is an alternative energy from plant oil. Raw material derived from plants makes its availability abundant unlike petroleum. In this research, biodiesel was obtained from transesterification reaction of castor oil and methanol with catalyst support in the form of zeolite which has been activated and modified. Zeolite activation was performed with the addition of HCL 6 M for 4 hours. Modified zeolite catalysts were performed in ultrasonic waves for 10 minutes with KOH concentration ratio of 50, 60, dan 70 %. XRD characterization results of modified zeolite showed that not formed of K2O, but during the process of modification occurs interaction between KOH and zeolite resulting is shifting and reduction of zeolite peak. Transesterification reaction of biodiesel formation was carried out for 7 hours at temperature of 60 ºC with mole ratio of oil and methanol was 1:15 and percentage of catalyst weight to oil weight was 17%. Biodiesel using KOH/zeolite 50 dan 60 dan 70 % catalyst resulted conversion of biodiesel up to 99,882; 99,05 dan 99,99 %.
