Abstract
INDONESIA:
Penelitian tentang pengaruh jenis perekat terhadap nilai kalor pada briket arang tempurung kawista (Limonia acidissima) yang diaktivasi dengan larutan basa NaOH 0,1 N telah dilakukan. Pemanfaatan limbah tempurung kawista sebagai energi alternatif berupa briket arang. Tahapan penelitian mencakup beberapa metode antara lain: aktivasi kimia, karbonisasi, pembuatan briket arang dengan variasi penambahan tiga jenis perekat gel tepung yaitu masing-masing tepung beras, tepung ketan, dan tepung tapioka, selanjutnya dilakukan karakterisasi meliputi identifikasi gugus fungsi semua jenis sampel menggunakan spektrofotometer FTIR, uji nilai kalor terbaik, dan uji mutu SNI pada briket arang.
Hasil uji nilai kalor tertinggi sebesar 6905 kal/g pada sampel briket arang tempurung kawista teraktivasi NaOH 0,1 N dengan jenis perekat gel tepung beras. Penentuan mutu briket arang terbaik sesuai standar SNI yaitu diperoleh nilai kadar air 3,733 %, kadar zat menguap 8,014 %, kadar abu 2,373 %, dan kadar C terikat 85,88 %. Hasil identifikasi gugus fungsi pada semua sampel, mulai kulit kawista, arang, hingga menjadi briket arang menunjukkan perbedaan spektra yaitu munculnya gugus fungsi NH2 pada bilangan gelombang daerah sidik jari 763-761 cm-1 yang terdapat pada briket arang perekat tepung ketan. Secara garis besar keseluruhan gugus fungsi yang teridentifikasi hampir sama yaitu meliputi gugus O–H pada 3500-3400 cm-1, gugus C=C pada 1650-1600 cm-1, gugus C–H pada 1384-1383 cm-1, dan gugus C–OH pada daerah 1047-1034 cm-1. Perbedaan spektra kulit kawista dengan sampel lainnya yaitu pada bilangan gelombang 1737 cm-1 terdapatnya gugus C=O dari senyawa ester.
ENGLISH:
The study about influence of binder type on the calorific value in charcoal briquettes from wood apple shell (Limonia acidissima) with activated by a base NaOH has been performed. Utilization of waste from wood apple shell can be as alternative energy that is charcoal briquettes. Stages of this research consists of some methods there are chemical activation, carbonization, and making charcoal briquettes. Production of charcoal briquettes with addition gel binder that’s use on three variations of flour gel binder types there are rice flour, sticky rice flour, and tapioca flour. The next stages are characterization comprise identification of functional groups at wood apple shell, charcoal, and charcoal briquettes make use spectrophotometer Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), and test the best calorific value, and quality test of Indonesia National Standard (SNI) on charcoal briquettes.
The result of highest calorific value is 6905 cal/g at the charcoal briquettes of wood apple shell activated NaOH 0,1 N with the rice flour gel binder type. The determination of quality test on the best sample type charcoal briquettes according to Indonesia National Standard (SNI) that is obtained value of moisture content 3,733%, volatile matter content 8,014 %, ash content 2,373 %, and carbon (C bound) content 85,88 %. The result for identification of functional groups in wood apple shell, charcoal, up to charcoal briquettes show the spectral differences that is NH2 at fingerprint wave number 763-761 cm-1 be found in charcoal briquettes with sticky rice flour binder. Generally the overall of functional groups has identified almost same group there are O–H on 3500-3400 cm-1, C=C on 1650-1600 cm-1, C–H on 1384-1383 cm-1, and C–O–C on 1047-1034 cm-1. The spectral differences between wood apple shell and other sample on 1737 cm-1 wave number that is C=O group from ester compound.
