Abstract
INDONESIA:
Biodiesel menjadi salah satu alternatif sebagai pengganti bahan bakar pada mesin disel. Biodiesel dapat dibuat melalui reaksi transesterifikasi minyak jarak (Ricinus Communis) dengan menggunakan katalis KOH/zeolit. Variasi waktu kontak katalis KOH/zeolit pada reaksi transesterifikasi telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui waktu terbaik. Proses pembuatan katalis dimulai melalui aktivasi kimia dengan perendaman zeolit menggunakan larutan asam HCl 6 M. Sintesis KOH/zeolit telah dilakukan dengan metode sonikasi dan kalsinasi pada suhu 450 ˚C. Aktivitas katalis KOH/zeolit diuji melalui proses reaksi transesterifikasi minyak jarak (castor oil) pada suhu 60 ˚C dengan variasi waktu 5, 6, dan 7 jam. Katalis yang dihasilkan dianalisis XRD dan XRF, minyak dan hasil reaksi transesterifikasi dianalisis angka asam, densitas dan kadar air. Hasil reaksi transesterifikasi juga dikarakterisasi dengan instrumentasi GC-MS.
Hasil XRD katalis menunjukkan bahwa zeolit yang digunakan merupakan mordenit. Penambahan KOH pada zeolit memunculkan puncak baru pada 2Ɵ 31, 36, dan 38. Hasil XRF juga mununjukkan penambahan unsur K pada KOH/zeolit. Hasil uji variasi waktu Kontak 5, 6, dan 7 jam katalis heterogen KOH/zeolit pada reaksi transesterifikasi minyak jarak (ricinus communis) untuk pembuatan biodiesel menunjukkan bahwa rendemen yang dihasilkan sebesar 87%, 85%, dan 76%, angka asam yang dihasilkan 0,04% mg-KOH/g, 0,06% mg-KOH/g, dan 0,04% mg-KOH/g, kadar air 0,08%, 0,06% dan 0,03%, dan densitas 952 Kg/m3, 944 Kg/m3, dan 961 Kg/m3.

Biodiesel became one of the alternatives as a substitute for fuel in diesel engines. Biodiesel can be made through the reaction of transesterification of castor oil (Ricinus Communis) using a KOH / zeolite catalyst. Variation of contact time of KOH / zeolite catalyst in transesterification reaction has been done to determine the best time. The process of preparing the catalyst was initiated by chemical activation by immersion of zeolite using a solution of HCl 6 M. The synthesis of KOH / zeolite was done by sonication and calcination method at 450 ˚C. KOH / zeolite catalyst activity was tested through castor oil transesterification process at 60 ˚C with time variation of 5, 6, and 7 hours. The resulting catalyst was analyzed XRD and XRF, oil and transesterification reaction result was analyzed acid number, density and water content. The results of transesterification reactions are also characterized by GC-MS instrumentation.
The XRD results of the catalyst indicate that the zeolite used is a mordenite. The addition of KOH to the zeolite gave rise to new peaks at 2Ɵ 31, 36, and 38. XRF results also show the addition of K elements to KOH / zeolite. The results of the variation of the time test of 5, 6, and 7 hours of heterogeneous KOH / zeolite catalysts in the ricinus communis transesterification reaction for biodiesel production showed that the yield yields were 87%, 85%, and 76%, , 04% mg-KOH / g, 0.06% mg-KOH / g, and 0.04% mg-KOH / g, moisture content 0.08%, 0.06% and 0.03%, and 952 density Kg / m3, 944 Kg / m3, and 961 Kg / m3.
