Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
The foot is one of the body part that sweating in large quantities. the resulting sweat can pound the bacteria on the feet. Due to the presence of bacteria and sweat that mixed causes a problem that is the smell on the feet. One of the bacteria that causes foot odor is the bacteria Escherichia coli. Control of Escherichia coli bacteria can be done by conducting ultraviolet irradiation and air humidity. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of intensity of ultraviolet C light, combination of ultraviolet C light with moisture and exposure time to the amount of Escherichia coli bacteria. This research method begins with the making of biofilm. The formed biofilms are then exposed to UV-C light with an intensity of 100 mW/cm2, 180 mW/cm2, 260 mW/cm2 and air humidity 81-90%, 71-80%, 60-70%, for 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes. The results show that C-ultraviolet light, a combination of ultraviolet C light with moisture and long exposure affect the number of colonies of Escherichia coli bacteria. Ultraviolet C light causes damage to DNA while air humidity causes damage to cell walls and bacteria are dehydrated. Optimum treatment to reduce Escherichia coli bacteria at the intensity of ultraviolet light C 260 mW/cm2, humidity 60-70 % for 60 minutes with the percentage of melting of Escherichia coli bacteria reach 99.4%.
