Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Macrozoobentos are aquatic animals that can be used as bio-indicators of water quality because the population changes are strongly influenced by the aquatic environment. This research was conducted in sub-district of Pakis and subdistrict of Malang Regency; because the water area contained the source of pollutant with different suspected condition. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of physical and chemical properties in the waters of Cokro River Malang with the index of diversity and dominance of macrozoobentos.
This research includes quantitative descriptive type. The study area was divided into four stations based on alleged pollution level. It use purposive sampling as the sampling method. Calculation of indices of diversity and dominance with Shannon-Wienner diversity index formula. factors measured include temperature; pH; DO; BOD; COD; TDS and TSS. Analyze the relationship using the Pearson formula using SPSS 16.0.
The results showed that the macrozoobentos were found: 10 families: Lymnaedae; Hydropsychidae; Philopotamidae; Ghomphidae; Chironomidae; Heptageniidae; Chaenidae; Pyralidae; Thiaridae;and Coenagrionidae. In each observation station there are some differences based on the value of diversity index; Station I and Station II have moderate diversity (1 < H’ < 3) while in Station III and Station IV show low diversity (H’ < 1); whereas based on Pearson correlation analysis using SPSS 16.0 indicates a linkage between physical and chemical factors with the value of the macrozoobenthic diversity index located on the Cokro River. The highest diversity found in station II is 1.25 and the family that dominates is the class of gastropods namely family Lymnaedae and Triaridae. The results of the analysis also show that the DO correlates unidirectional while the pH; temperature; COD; TSS; TDS and BOD are correlated opposite.
