Abstract
INDONESIA:
ENGLISH:
Apple plant (Malus sylvestris Mill) is one of the plants that play an important role for the fulfillment of community nutrition and farmers’ income. Decades intensive farming system with high fertilizer input and synthesis pesticide conducted by farmers on apple farming has an impact on the environment. Environmental impacts include land degradation, pollution (air, soil, and water), and decrease of biodiversity. One of the types of soil fauna that plays an important role in soil fertility is the earthworm. The purpose of this research was to know the Density of Population of Earthworm in Conventional and Semi-Organic Apple Plantation of District Bumiaji Batu City
This research was conducted in conventional and semi-organic apple plantation of Bumiaji Batu City, in May 2017, using the methods of exploration, sampling was using line transect as long as 50 m, 10 points were made on each line systematically with a distance of 5 m. The earthworms obtained were then identified in the Laboratory of Optical, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Identification was using book of Dindal (1990) and others, data analysis was using program past 3.14.
The results of research obtained a number of earthworms of 2 Order 3 Family and 3 Genus. The highest density of earthworm in conventional apple plantation was genus Pontoscolex with a number of 250.67 individuals/m3 while the lowest density was genus Drawida of 1.78 individuals/m3 and the highest density of earthworms in semi-organic plantation was genus Pontoscolex with a number of 798.22 individual/m3 while the lowest density was obtained from the genus Pheretima of 5.33 individual/m3. The correlation between physics-chemical factor of soil and the density of earthworm showed positive correlation on the genus of Pontoscolex and Drawida with factors of Temperature, Water Moisture, pH, Organic Material, C/N, C-Organic, Phosphorus, Potassium. In Genus Pheretima there was no positive correlation.
