Abstract
INDONESIA:
Komposit adalah campuran dari dua atau lebih material yang terdiri dari matriks yang berfungsi sebagai pengikat dan penguat. Salah satu komposit polimer adalah alginat:selulosa xantat, yang merupakan polimer alam bersifat anionik, biodegradabel, dan biokompatibel. Salah satu sumber selulosa adalah limbah ampas tebu, yaitu sisa pengambilan nira, umumnya merupakan 30-40% bagian tebu dan memiliki kadar selulosa 50%.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi NaOH terbaik dalam pembuatan larutan viskosa dan alginat:selulosa xantat beads, serta komposisi alginat:selulosa xantat terbaik dalam pembuatan beads. Komposit beads alginat:selulosa xantat dibuat dengan teknik dropping melalui metode gelasi ionik dengan penaut silang Zn2+ dan porogen CaCO3. Variasi konsentrasi NaOH dalam pembuatan larutan viskosa 4, 6, 8% dan komposisi alginat:selulosa xantat 2:0, 2:2, 2:6, 2:16, dan 2:30. Larutan viskosa yang dihasilkan kemudian dikarakterisasi berdasarkan densitas, viskositas, dan berat molekul. Kemampuan mengembang beads dianalisis berdasarkan daya swelling. Senyawa penyusun sampel dikarakterisasi menggunakan Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) dan analsis termal menggunakan Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi terbaik NaOH dalam pembuatan larutan viskosa adalah 6%, berdasarkan nilai densitas tertinggi sebesar 1,099 gr/ml, viskositas 0,024 Pa.s, dan berat molekul 171.686 gr/mol. Konsentrasi terbaik NaOH pada pembuatan beads alginat:selulosa xantat adalah 6%, berdasarkan nilai daya swelling tertinggi sebesar 50,8% dan intensitas gugus OH tertinggi pada spektrum IR. Komposisi terbaik alginat:selulosa xantat dalam pembuatan komposit beads adalah 2:6, berdasarkan dapat terbentuknya beads, nilai daya swelling tertinggi sebesar 63,8%, dan memiliki nilai ∆Hf sebesar 5 J/g.

The composite is a mixture of two or more materials that consists a matrix that acts as a binder and amplifier. One of the polymer composites is alginate: cellulose, which is an anionic, biodegradable, and biocompatible natural polymer. One of cellulosesources is waste of bagasse, namely the rest of the nira, generally 30-40% of sugar cane and it has cellulose content of 50%.
The research aimed at determining the best NaOH concentration in making viscose and alginate:cellulose xanthate beads, and the best composition of alginate:cellulose xanthate in making the composite of beads. Alginate:cellulose xanthate beads was made by dropping technique through ionic gelation method with crosslinking of Zn2+ and porogen of CaCO3. Variation of NaOH concentration in making viscose solution which are 4, 6, 8% and composition of alginate:cellulose xanthate which are 2:0, 2:2, 2:6, 2:16, and 2:30. The viscose solution was characterized by density, viscosity, and molecular weight. The ability of beads was analyzed by swelling power. The sample compound was characterized using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) and thermal analysis that used Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
The results of characterization showed that the best concentration of NaOH in making viscose solution was 6%, based on the highest density value was 1.099 gr/ml, viscosity was 0.024 Pa.s, and molecular weight was 171,686 gr/mol. The best concentration of NaOH in making alginate:cellulose xanthate beads was 6%, based on the highest swelling power value was 50.8% and the highest OH group intensity on the spectrum of IR. The best composition of alginate:cellulose xanthate in making composite beads was 2:6, based on the formation of beads, the highest swelling power value was 63.8%, and it had a value of ΔHf namely 5 J/g.
